Label: Post Present Medium Laziness is a wonderful kind of sound. It embodies everything we enjoy about music: relaxation, escapism, detachment. The lo-fi summer-pop duo, Best Coast, is one of those that you love to kick back to and let yourself drift away. Another Beach Boy’s clone, maybe, but at the moment, they’re coasting… The third EP in two years from the LA two is short, playful and goddam enjoyable. The title track slides through to a dazzled, hazy, 60’s pop scene with a childlike, repetitive guitar tone standing out as an easy pleaser. On paper, all tracks have instant likability combining elements of noise-pop, lo-fi and shoegaze. Extra listens give this EP little expandability although drill home the idea that it is a repetitive, ethereal time-warp set to bring you back to a summer of beach, sun and innocent tunes. As if a lazy tune ever needed any application, this doesn't, and the colder months can be damned.
