The mind-blowing 1998 debut album from the instrumental project that takes 3 parts Dream Theater (guitarist John Petrucci, drummer Mike Portnoy, keyboardist Jordan Rudess), 1 part King Crimson (bassist Tony Levin) and combines them to perfection.  This album, as well as it's successor, LTE 2, has become legendary among prog rock/jazz fusion enthusiasts, featuring groundbreaking improvisations, insanely technical playing and truly mesmerizing production. 

This is the second of Magna Carta's one-time-only groupings and the second to feature bassist Tony Levin.  The tunes here showcase the versatility of Dream Theater members John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy and Dregs keyboardist Jordan Rudess. They fit the fusion/prog rock tag, with plenty of chopsmanship on display, but also with some allegiance to melody and restraint. Not likely to get any radio play, but then that wasn't the point of the session.
